India's National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launched a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at the Chorayasi Toll Plaza on the Surat–Bharuch section of NH-48 in Gujarat, using ANPR and FASTag-based electronic toll collection for barrier-less tolling.
Why it matters
At the Chorayasi MLFF toll point, non-payment events (insufficient balance, invalid or non-functional FASTag) shift into an E-Notice workflow with a 72-hour payment/grievance window; after 72 hours, the toll is charged at twice the normal rate. Non-payment can trigger FASTag blacklisting and restriction of other vehicle-related services through the VAHAN platform.

- — Applies if you are a FASTag account holder whose vehicle passes the Chorayasi MLFF toll point with insufficient balance, an invalid FASTag, or a non-functional FASTag — NHAI issues an Electronic Notice (E-Notice) for non-payment of user fee.
