Terms that keep OwlBrief fair

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 17, 2025

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of OwlBrief, including our website, applications, AI-assisted summaries, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You may use the Service only if you are capable of forming a binding contract and meet the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Service & availability

OwlBrief provides a curated set of updates and AI-assisted summaries that emphasize what changed and why it matters, along with links back to original sources. The Service may include topic tagging, saved items, and “Discuss with AI” features.

We work hard to keep OwlBrief reliable, but the Service may occasionally be interrupted, delayed, or contain errors. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service over time.

The Service is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, financial, investment, medical, or other professional advice.

3. Accounts

  • You may need an account to access certain features. You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized use, notify us promptly.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts to protect users and the Service (for example, fraud, abuse, or security risks).

4. Subscriptions & billing

Some features may require a paid subscription. If you subscribe, you agree to pay the fees and applicable taxes shown at checkout. Subscription terms (billing cycle, price, and included features) will be displayed at the time you subscribe.

  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • Cancellation: you can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: unless required by law or explicitly stated at purchase, fees are non-refundable and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods.
  • Changes: we may change prices or plans with advance notice; changes apply at renewal unless required otherwise by law.

5. Acceptable use

Please use OwlBrief responsibly. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, infringing, harassing, or abusive purposes.
  • Attempt to bypass access controls, probe vulnerabilities, or interfere with the Service’s operation.
  • Scrape, harvest, bulk-download, or systematically extract content in a way that overloads the Service or circumvents intended usage.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code or underlying systems except as permitted by law.
  • Use the Service or outputs to build, train, or operate a competing product or dataset at scale without our prior written permission.
  • Introduce malware, spam, or other harmful code or automated behavior.

6. Intellectual property

OwlBrief (including its name, logos, software, designs, and user interface) is owned by OwlBrief and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

OwlBrief does not claim ownership of third-party content it links to or summarizes (such as journalism, research, or media). That content remains the property of its respective owners.

7. Third-party content & publishers

The Service may display links, headlines, publisher names, and short AI-generated summaries of third-party content. OwlBrief does not control third-party sites and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or policies. Your use of third-party sites is governed by their own terms.

Attribution is provided for clarity. References to publishers or authors do not imply endorsement or partnership unless explicitly stated. We aim to keep summaries short and link prominently to original reporting.

If you are a publisher and want to reach us about how your content appears on OwlBrief, contact us using the details in the Contact section.

8. AI content & disclaimers

OwlBrief uses AI to generate summaries and assist with Q&A. AI outputs can occasionally be incomplete or wrong. We encourage you to consult the linked source material for important decisions.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OwlBrief and its affiliates, officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OwlBrief’s total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to OwlBrief for the Service in the six (6) months before the claim arose, or (b) US $50.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold OwlBrief and its affiliates, officers, and employees harmless from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, pose a risk to the Service or other users, or if we discontinue the Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will continue to apply.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree that courts located in India will have jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.

13. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice (for example, in the app or by email). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
