EU does not renew cypermethrin approval for wood preservatives
EU operators must stop placing cypermethrin-treated wood articles on market from 22 Dec 2026
- — Manufacturers of cypermethrin-treated wood articles must stop placing those articles on the EU market from 22 December 2026 — the Commission did not renew the product-type 8 active-substance approval.
- — Importers and distributors of treated wood articles must identify stock treated with or intentionally incorporating cypermethrin for wood preservation — such articles cannot be placed on the EU market after the transition deadline.
- — Biocidal-product compliance teams must update product and treated-article approval checks for product-type 8 — cypermethrin no longer has renewed approval under Regulation (EU) No 528/2012.
