The European Commission did not renew cypermethrin approval for biocidal product-type 8 and set a market-placement stop date for treated wood articles.
Why it matters
The decision removes the active-substance approval route for cypermethrin in wood-preservative biocidal products. Manufacturers, importers and distributors have a transition window, but treated articles incorporating cypermethrin for wood preservation cannot be placed on the EU market from 22 December 2026.
