Asok Kumar Das, an art historian, presented a lecture titled 'Music, Musicians and Musical Instruments at the Mughal Court' at the Bangalore International Music & Arts Society's golden jubilee celebrations. His talk, supported by slides from Mughal illustrated biographies, examined the evolution of Mughal painting and music under different emperors. Das highlighted the significance of music in Mughal life, depicting various instruments and musical scenes in miniatures. He noted the absence of Ragmala depictions, despite music's integral role in rituals and celebrations. Das emphasized the need for knowledge dissemination and the digitization of heritage collections to make them accessible. He concluded by asserting the enduring influence of Mughal culture in contemporary India.
