Al Jazeera reported that gunmen raided a village in northern Nigeria’s Niger state, killing at least 30 villagers and abducting others. Niger police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun said, “Over 30 victims lost their lives during the attack; some persons were also kidnapped.” Abiodun said the gunmen stormed Kasuwan Daji market in Demo village at around 4:30pm on Saturday, burning stalls and looting food items. Dauda Shakulle, who was wounded while fleeing, told Reuters, “Women and children were not spared,” and said, “We are currently recovering corpses.”
