Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, said Saudi-backed Homeland Shield forces achieved “record success” in “retaking all military and security positions in the province” bordering Saudi Arabia. The government announced it retook control of Mukalla, the port and capital of Hadramout province, from the Southern Transitional Council (STC). Government sources told Al Jazeera Arabic that Yemeni government forces took control of all districts in Hadramout. Mohammed Omar Suwailam told Anadolu that Homeland Shield forces took control of all nine districts of al-Mahra governorate as STC forces withdrew.
