Somanna said the Centre approved the Ballari-Chikkajajur double-line railway project in June 2025 at an estimated cost of ₹3,400 crore. He said Hosapete Railway Station is being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of ₹15.17 crore, with nearly 80% of the works completed.
