The Telangana Government is considering a new affordable housing policy aimed at middle-class families, with plans to construct around 40,000 houses across four identified locations near the Outer Ring Road. The Housing Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, stated that the government intends to sell these homes at prices lower than the current market rates, operating on a no-profit basis. In parallel, a policy is being developed to provide housing for poorer sections, ensuring they remain in their current locations. The government is also addressing the dilapidated conditions of existing housing by replacing old structures with high-rise apartments. Efforts are underway to complete unfinished housing projects and improve amenities in these areas, with a commitment to deliver a significant number of houses by mid-2026.
