A tiger has returned to Gujarat after being extinct for over 30 years, marking a significant moment for wildlife conservation in the region.

A tiger has made a comeback in Gujarat, settling in the Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary after being extinct in the state for over 30 years. This significant event was announced by State Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia, who noted that the tiger was first spotted on CCTV cameras in February. Since then, forest officials have monitored its movements, confirming that it has established a home in the sanctuary. To support the tiger's survival, some herbivores have been relocated to ensure a sufficient prey base. The National Tiger Conservation Authority has been informed about the tiger's presence, and guidance has been sought for further actions. Tigers were last recorded in Gujarat in 1989, and previous attempts to reintroduce them faced challenges.
