Why it matters
Iranian media reported the detainees include three prominent reformist politicians: Azar Mansouri (head of Iran’s Reform Front), Mohsen Aminzadeh (former diplomat), and Ebhrahim Asgharzadeh (former parliamentarian). Iran’s judiciary, via the official Mizan news agency, accused the group of organising and leading extensive activities intended to disrupt the political and social situation during a period it described as involving military threats from Israel and the US.
