A What happened
NTPC Green Energy said its board approved a joint venture agreement to incorporate a 50:50 joint venture company with GAIL (India) Ltd for renewable energy projects. The approval was made in a board meeting held on January 15, 2026. The joint venture is subject to approval from the Ministry of Power, DIPAM, and other statutory authorities as applicable. NTPC Green Energy is a subsidiary of NTPC and aims to help achieve NTPC’s target of 60 GW by FY32.
