Indian Railways is actively promoting innovation to tackle operational challenges by utilizing its Innovation Portal. This initiative encourages participation from startups, individual innovators, R&D institutes, and MSMEs. Since its launch in 2022, more than 4,043 entities have registered, including 416 startups and 2,655 individual innovators. They have submitted various innovative ideas, such as smart track inspection systems and solar-powered coaches. The Railways has conducted over 131 workshops to engage with these innovators. Some technologies, like advanced track inspection and solar power systems, have already demonstrated significant improvements in safety and environmental sustainability. The Railways aims to integrate these innovations into its operations.
