The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has initiated an investigation into a concerning incident where honey intended for the Sabarimala temple was delivered in containers usually designated for acid. This situation was uncovered during a probe by the Devaswom Vigilance department, prompting a temporary halt on the honey stock. The agency responsible for the supply, Regional Agro Industrial Development Co-operative of Kerala Ltd (RAYDCO), has received a show cause notice. Officials clarified that the honey is exclusively used for the Ashtabhishekam ritual and is not meant for consumption by devotees. Preliminary investigations confirmed that the honey had passed inspection by the Food Safety Laboratory at Pampa. In response to the incident, a review meeting was held to enhance surveillance during the pilgrimage season and ensure safety measures are in place.
